We are in the process of testing a new email notification system. Our forum email service has been down for some time. This system allows you to send messages to other forum members, sends an email when a post you're following changes, and other notices that are sent via email. Hopefully this new system will continue to work properly. So if you're interested in a particular post, you can now follow it and be notified when it changes or a new message is posted. That's rather nice, instead of having to check every few days to see if something new has been added. There is also another upgrade to the forum version. Only minor changes, but it's always best to get these changes made. We'll get to that as soon as possible. You can hide this announcement now that you've read it by clicking on the little "X" in the upper right corner of the announcement window. Thanks for being a member. We appreciate your participation.

Faux WW2 Liason

I was thinking that with an inverted Rotax twin and aluminum cowling on a Badlands frame... The addition of a few wood stringers to establish the fuselage profile... And bows added to the wingtips... One could make a quite passable single seat miniature of a Cirrus or Gipsy powered Taylorcraft C2 or...

Re: Which Engine Type?

"Not only the customer who won't shut up but also the customer that can no longer speak at all because he's permanently horizontal from an engine failure!" I would submit that no minimally competent and sober pilot ever died from an engine failure. Your engine quits-- congratulations, you...

Re: Which Engine Type?

I enjoy building engines. Right now I am playing with water cooled Wankels. Longevity is my current bug-a-boo. My "Mark IV" has been used in one of my airplanes but is not anywhere near as reliable as my two-stroke piston power plants, which have a TBO of TBDBJUHR (to be determined by Jesu...

Re: Is Part 103 all there is?

This is a legitimate question, not an opening salvo-- for some reason people elsewhere tend to view my confident statements as provocative when in fact they were simply well researched and / or based on my personal experiences... In my personal opinion, the following are relevant... All of part 103 ...

Re: Trailering Your Ultralight

"I doubt you'll find many 20-foot long trailers sprung to carry only 254 lbs so you might as well plan on it being a rough ride."

Or, load the trailer as it will typically be used and remove leafs until it is correctly sprung for the weight it will actually be carrying.

Re: Here is Practical Explanation about Next Life, Purpose of Human Life, philosophical/religious facts, theories etc.

There was a "Center for Krishna Consciousness" down the street from campus at a nearby college. They served a very, very affordable lunch each weekday. The generous proportions of roti, naan, chann aur smla mirch, garam masala, masala bhindi sabji, matar alu tarkari, and paneer sak were ab...

Re: Trent Palmer FAA License Supension

Reason #37 to fly under 14 CFR 103: Just carry a copy of your certified empty weight and the worksheets from App 1 and 2 of AC 103-7. "Liiicence? We donn need no steenkin' liiicence..." (I am not advocating flouting the law. I am stating that an exemption from having to defend one's action...
